Promote sanity

Sir — This refers to a news report that Muslim clerics have refused security and said they were not scared of the threat from the Indian Mujahideen. Maulana Kalbe Sadiq and Maulana Mahmood Madani have boldly called the IM bluff, and they merit praise.

The courage stems from the Muslims’ faith in the Quran that says, “Kullun nafsun zaiqatul maut” (All living beings have to taste death). 

Moreover, one’s life-span as well as precise point of time of demise is pre-destined. It is to be noted that the above-cited Quranic verse finds vindication in the fact that the top-class security provided to two former Prime Ministers of India failed to prevent the assassination.

Those who teach us the Quran cannot be scared into silence and made to leave their righteous path of spreading wisdom through imparting education to the masses and giving a call for communal harmony and brotherhood. These religious luminaries are an asset to the nation and they must be protected at any cost.
