Sir — This refers to the article, “Neither Modi nor Nitish has prescription for India’s ills” (July 5) by CP Bhambhri.
It is interesting to note that though the States of Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh still have a long way to go before being labelled ‘prosperous and developed’, they are not ‘special’ States. This demand for ‘special status’ is selfish and demeaning and reflects poorly on the citizens of the State. Granting special status to Bihar will be akin to awarding the very things that a modern India wants to, or hopes to, get rid of — disparity and discrimination. The Gujarat model is a better one.
