Sir — There is nothing unusual in Ms Priyanka Gandhi campaigning for her mother and brother. But while doing so, she has charged the BJP of attacking her husband Robert Vadra. Though she said nothing to counter the charges against her husband, she has been exploiting the episode by giving it an emotional twist, to garner votes for her mother and brother.
The video on Mr Vadra, released by the BJP, contains nothing new; it only summarises the known story. For instance, people are aware of what led to the transfer of the IAS officer in Haryana, Mr Ashok Khemka, who had launched a probe into Mr Vadra’s dealings. Meanwhile, Ms Vadra is not going to save the Congress from electoral doom by terming BJP leaders as “panic-stricken rats”.
Ms Vadra should understand that she cannot remain apolitical while getting involved in the affairs of the Congress. She should not expect mileage by taking the names of her father and grandmother. She may be a good orator and have some resemblance to her grandmother, but just these are not sufficient to sail in the present scenario.
Ms Vadra should stop being rhetorical and express herself on the various issues the country faces, including the problems that have been brought about by the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre. People will judge her by her deeds and not by words alone.
