Sir — If the buzz over her presence at a Congress meeting in New Delhi is considered a pointer, it shows that Ms Priyanka Gandhi Vadra can arouse greater media frenzy than other Congress leaders. The presence of Ms Vadra points to two things: First, she’ll be campaigning extensively; and second, she may replace Mr Rahul Gandhi as the speaker in certain constituencies. 

The problem the Congress faces is that its vice president has not delivered. After the drubbing in the recent elections, Mr Gandhi is far from being a confident speaker. But one has to wait and see if Ms Vadra’s initiatives will alter the scene dramatically ahead of the 2014 election
