Sir — This refers to the article, “Delhi’s dirty secret of privatisation” (July 29) by Sandhya Jain. For long, Delhi has held the distinction of being the country’s only success story in power-distribution reforms.
In the 12 years since power distribution was privatised, private companies have achieved what successive Governments failed for decades: Reduce power cuts to almost zero, provide better quality power, bring down technical and commercial losses to a mere 17 per cent from the earlier 65 per cent, and offer significantly cheaper rates.
