Sir — The Congress-led UPA Government is on a populist drive, regardless of the adverse impact on the nation. After pushing for a minority status for the Jain community, it has also increased the Central Government employees’ dearness allowance by 10 per cent.
The regime has reduced the prices of CNG and PNG. Such ‘bribes’, including the food security and land acquisition Acts, also amount to corruption. These are opportunistic, pre-election gimmicks. The Election Commission must look into these serious issues.
On the other hand, Ms J Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK, the CPI and the CPI(M) are shaping a so-called Third Front. And Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mr Nitish Kumar and others are also going to form a different ‘front’. These things happen in India because politics has become a full-time business. None of these parties is genuinely interested in the aam aadmi’s progress.
