Sir — Former diplomat Gopalkrishna Gandhi’s decision to quit as Chairman of Kalakshetra and the Indian Institute of Advanced Study is amusing. His resignation comes days after he wrote an open letter in a national daily, saying he was among those who did not want to see Mr Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister.
Mr Gandhi has inadvertently let the cat out of the bag by saying that his decision to resign is in keeping with the convention followed during a change in Government. It means he was given these postings out of the goodwill he enjoyed of the previous Government. Does this mean that such coveted posts are filled by the sympathisers of a political party in power, with merit and talent going for a tossIJ
