This refers to the article, “Time to overhaul bureaucracy” (November 27) by VK Bahuguna. The Seventh Pay Commission’s recommendations will drain the entire Indian economy. Amidst high inflation and sluggish economic growth, it is difficult to justify steep salary hikes.
What is needed is economic security, not just for Government employees and pensioners, but the private sector too. The salary raise is inequitable and non-inclusive, since only one crore Government employees, out of 120 crore Indians, stand to gain from the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission.
