Sir — This refers to the report, “SP goes UP the down alley” (October 25). The Samajwadi Party is on the verge of a split. The face-off between party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav worsened as the day progressed. Both of them sacked each other’s loyalists, Shivpal Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav. This ugly turn of events did not happen overnight. The ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh is the worst example of a directionless Government, which has pushed the State towards communal violence, crime, unemployment and other socio-economic crises.
