Sir — This refers to the report, “Dalit rage singes India, 8 killed” (April 3). It is unfortunate that vote-bank politics has stooped political parties so low that none of them have the courage to support the justified verdict of the Supreme Court on Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
None of the State Governments could muster courage to prevent miscreants from indulging in violence or prevent heavy loss to public property during the Bharat Bandh called against the apex court’s verdict. It was complete failure of constitutional provision gifted by BR Ambedkar which required the administration to ensure compliance of judicial verdicts.
If those fighting for reservation or political parties supporting them have any respect for BR Ambedkar, they should ask for the abolition of reservation which has been spreading hatred amongst the society by alienating persons of reserved categories from the normal society.
