Political miracles

Sir — This refers to the article, “When a commoner takes on the prince” (January 15) by Rajesh Singh. The author is correct about the Congress’s feudal mindset which was on full display in Amethi against AAP leader Kumar Vishwas, who has courageously confronted Mr Rahul Gandhi on the latter’s home turf.
Miracles do happen in politics. Both Indira Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi lost elections in their strongholds. Rajiv Gandhi, who won the Congress more than 400 seats in the 1984 general election, could only fetch 192 seats in the 1989 poll for the party.
