Sir — This refers to the article, “Despicable responses from the political class” (October 11) by A Surya Prakash. Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, like a non-politician gentleman, first hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conducting the surgical strikes across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal too lauded the Prime Minister’s will power shown in this issue. But having realised that the credit for the strikes is going in favour of the BJP (which is natural), they became cautious and and began to run down Prime Minister Modi’s NDA Government.
After raising a few discordant notes, which made them more unpopular, the Congress started rummaging history to locate comparable performances by the Indian Armed Forces during its tenure. Now they have claimed that the Army performed a similar strike in 2011. If it is so, let it be. But that does not nullify the BJP’s political advantage in any way.
