Sir — It is really hypocritical that Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly rushed to meet lK Advani to request him to contest in the 2019 General Election after realising that the BJP is now on a sticky wicket and the active involvement of tall leaders like Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi might help the party win a few more seats.
If Advani and Joshi, who have been badly bruised with insults heaped on them by the Prime Minister, have any self-respect, they should turn down the appeal of Modi, particularly when people of the nation have almost decided to pack the BJP out lock, stock and barrel in the upcoming General Election. They can retain the good name they have now and the respect they command by refusing to fall into the trap of opportunism dug by the Modi-Shah alliance.
