This refers to the editorial, “Bihar’s package politics” (August 20). The editorial proposes progressive approach to politics which can lead to development. Negative criticism can never be termed healthy.
However, progressive gestures and ideas are often laughed at because they do not reap political mileage for some people. The criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of `1.25 lakh crore for the development of Bihar should be seen in this perspective.
The objections raised by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar cannot be over-ruled without these promises actually being delivered. The real test of the announcement and the verbal politics being played around, lies in the future course of action by both Mr Modi to deliver his package and by the next Bihar Chief Minister, whosoever it is.
Till then, all arguments of pride and prejudice over such statements can only be called political jumla bazi in a desperate attempt to influence the voters and win their hearts, as it usually happens before any election.
