Political drama

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Unbecoming of a CM” (May 19). The ego clash between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has turned into an ugly battle. Mr Kejriwal has gone overboard by criticising a senior IAS officer in public. His plans to appoint a candidate of his own choice for the acting Chief Secretary’s post have gone sour, now that the candidate himself has withdrawn from the race.

Governance and political drama are different things, but Mr Kejriwal thinks that the latter will fetch him votes. He forgets that, if the people do not see concrete results on the ground, he will be in trouble. Also, he can’t grab the powers that the Constitution has bestowed on the Delhi lt Governor.
