PM must quit for fair probe in the coal block scam

Published on:

This refers to the report, “PM readies to face CBI, admits not above the law” (October 25). The moot point is: Can the ‘caged parrot', while remaining under his subordination, have the courage to carry out an honest and fair probeIJ The Prime Minister must be aware of the partisan reputation the investigation agency enjoys. It is, therefore, incumbent upon Mr Manmohan Singh to resign and allow an honest inquiry.

He must understand that the people cannot be fooled further by empty shows of presumed integrity. People have had enough of the Prime Minister's so-called honesty and uprightness and his oft-repeated statement that he “does not have anything to hide”. This is the last opportunity for Mr Singh to salvage whatever is left of his self-esteem, which has been battered by various scams that have happened under his leadership.  One hopes he does not disappoint the already frustrated people of this country. But, perhaps, it is a hope in vain.
