Playing dirty games for political mileage

Playing dirty games for political mileage

This refers to the report, “Cong, AAP stoke suicide rage” (November 3). While the suicide of an Army veteran over one-rank-one-pension shocked the entire nation, what was deplorable was the way Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi created a law and order problem outside the hospital to meet the kin of the ex-serviceman. They misbehaved with the policemen and caused inconvenience to the patients who were in need of immediate medical help.

Obviously, as usual, their aim was to draw political mileage. If indeed, Arvind Kejriwal or Rahul Gandhi wanted to help the deceased soldier's family, instead of creating scenes on the road, they should have called for a judicial inquiry. It is shameful that they played dirty politics even on the tragic death of an Army veteran. The role of news channels in not exercising restrain and giving undue coverage to such deliberate drama of publicity by our hungry politicians, is also deplorable.
