Pivotal relation

Sir— It has been reported that an Indian has been arrested in Islamabad allegedly for carrying incomplete travel documents. The veracity of allegation in the case of Pakistan will always be in doubt. Attempts to save every citizen deliberately caught by Pakistan would be a fruitless exercise.

Every citizen of India must invariably realise that if anyone crosses over to Pakistan with or without travel documents, the person cannot be expected to come back to India alive. It is said that Sarabjit Singh strayed into Pakistan in an intoxicated state. He was caught and tortured to death after confinement for a very long time. In the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, even though he was in Iran, he was allegedly kidnapped and brought to Pakistan and given death sentence.

Now, the Indian national, Sheikh Nabi Ahmed, may go through the same ordeal as Jadhav.

Therefore, India’s foreign policy should be drastically changed. First, Indians should avoid going to Pakistan for now. All Indians in Pakistan should come back to India before the expiry of valid documents, and all Pakistanis in India should set a deadline to leave India.
