Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Unwise and dangerous” (October 9). You have rightly advised Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to desist from playing into the hands of disruptive elements. It may be true that the Indian Army has been conducting welfare programmes for the people of the State, and for that it has funded certain politicians. But the Army is also combating terrorism in the violence-hit State.
The Congress-led UPA Government is largely to blame for creating this unnecessary controversy. Vested interests from within this Government are hell-bent on harming the goodwill that the people of the State have for the Army.
