Sir — This refers to the article, “The shining knights of secularism on the prowl” (April 14) by Balbir Punj. It aptly blames the Prime Minister for the UPA’s minority appeasement policies. The Prime Minister had said that “Muslims have the first claim on national resources”. This violates Article 14 which guarantees equality and equal protection of law for all.
Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has followed the same policy by giving credit to Muslims for the Kargil victory. There must be consensus among political parties that elections will be fought on real issues, that communal and foul language and individual acrimony will be banished from the campaign. What we are witnessing today is disgraceful.
