Sir — Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led clean-up act as a part of Swachch Bharat Abhiyan has attracted lakhs of people. Cutting across party lines, many stalwarts wielded the broom. Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda did it in Hassan. Mr Deve Gowda has showcased maturity in following Mr Modi. The Prime Minister was generous to invite Congress leader Shashi Tharoor to participate in the movement, and the latter agreed.
But the Congress, far from being happy, has taken high exception to the invite to Mr Tharoor. Further, former Union Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge has claimed that the Congress had already called for a clean-up drive. It is clear that the call given by the Congress had not reached the ears of people. Perhaps even his party leaders do not seem to have heard it.
