Sir — This is regarding the hype being generated around Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The people of the country voted for Mr Modi for a change and for good governance.
However, some people and a section of the media are bent upon making a personality cult around the Prime Minister. His dress, his anecdotes, and even his religious fasting are being discussed with frenzy. There is a pattern in all this and it suggests that a conscious attempt is being made to de-link the personality of Mr Modi from that of the identity of his party.
This is a tried and tested formula that enables the party to seek votes in the name of a leader. The political culture that Mr Modi had tried to oppose by calling Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi a “shehzada”, is being followed by a section of Mr Modi’s followers.
