Sir — This refers to the article, “My lords, this is judicial adventurism” (Big Story, January 13) by Abraham Thomas. Judges, who back freedom of speech of the likes of Kanhaiya Kumar or sections of the media who work against national interests, cannot take away the common people’s opinion from outside of the courts. People have their own views. Prashant Bhushan, the activist-lawyer, who was party to so-called Sahara-Birla diaries case, openly questioned the apex court’s verdict on the issue. That is contempt of court, not the people’s differing opinion or articles that criticise verdicts on merit. People who are not party to any case need to be brave to display their honest opinions so that judicial reforms can be done with transparency.
