Sir — This refers to the article, “Anti-corruption fight must begin at home” (April 20) by Joginder Singh. If politicians, people’s representatives and Ministers are dishonest, corrupt and irresponsible, the bureaucracy alone cannot be blamed for the country’s backwardness. The article rightly argues about the responsibility of the highest bodies and the bureaucracy to properly using taxpayers’ money. Democracy is of the people and their interests are supreme.
Incompetent Ministers will be unable to handle the bureaucracy. Development, service and optimum utilisation of benefits from projects, get hampered. The Right to Information Act gives people the power to know the inner system regarding their direct interests of everyday life, that are affected by the system’s failures.
