Sir — This refers to the article, “History, legacy and two June 22s past” (June 22) by Ashok Malik. Jawaharlal Nehru was a true Congress leader and always acted like one, on partisan lines. But Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was a great leader who went beyond his party. He belonged to all Indians and all parties. Moreover, the BJP was not there in Sardar Patel’s time. If Patel were to be alive today, he would have chosen the BJP over the Congress.
