Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Green signal to change” (February 27).The Railway Budget presented by Mr Suresh Prabhu has some refreshing features. First of all, the focus is on de-congesting the existing rail network by adding more lines so that the trains run faster. It is commendable that the Budget aims to improve cleanliness in trains and at stations. Besides this, provisions have been made for the safety of women passengers by way of surveillance cameras in suburban coaches. To prevent train accidents, the Budget has talked of installing collision avoidance system on select routes to begin with. This is commendable.
