Partisan politics

This refers to the report, “Cong asks PM to take up laMo deportation issue  with Cameron” (November 13). One had hoped against hope that, on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UK, the Congress would rise above petty politics and say a positive word or two on his various engagements to further bilateral relations. But, sadly, it was not to be.

Congress’s national spokesman Randeep Surjewala raked up, in a thoughtless and undignified manner, the nearly forgotten issue of tainted former IPl chief lalit Modi. He said that it was only by ensuring Mr lalit Modi’s extradition that the the Prime Minister could “fetch a lot for India in terms of concrete achievements”. He also added that, if the Prime Minister fails to do so, the public will assume that the “big Modi” is hand-in-glove with the “little Modi”. Can one beat such small-mindedness and stupidityIJ
