Parting ways is easy way out, but not a solution

This refers to the editorial, “Staying the course” (March 21). First, let us not forget that there is nothing in common between the PDP and the BJP, except the fact that both have won a significant number of seats in the State. Their ideologies are poles apart. And the reason the two parties came together to form a Government was to provide political stability to Jammu & Kashmir. Yes, the release of separatist Masarat Alam and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed’s controversial statements like crediting Pakistan for the smooth election in the State, created tension between the two parties.

However, the BJP must make the alliance work and not give up this early. The coalition was never expected to be a bed of roses, so why jump the gun nowIJ Parting ways is the easiest option for both parties, but they really need to sit together and reconcile the differences they have for the sake of the people.
