Parties must keep away from tainted leaders

Two tweets by senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj seems to have created a buzz if not a storm in political circles which are looking for every whiff and detail to follow the goings-on in the major parties and their smaller allies.

She has put her neck out and stated her views from a public forum about the BJP being associated directly or indirectly with controversial politicians. She was against the merger of the BSR Congress with the BJP in Karnataka. The BSR Congress is headed by BS Sriramulu, who was a Minister in the BJP's Karnataka Government.

Also, Ms Swaraj does not want the BJP to be associated directly or indirectly with Venod Sharma, whose son Manu Sharma has been convicted in the murder of Jessica lall and who is now serving a life term. She is keen that the BJP's sensitivity towards woman's issues should not be seen to be compromised. She has a valid point.
