The Monsoon Session of Parliament was one of the stormiest in the history of India. The Opposition’s obstructionist attitude and the Government’s inability to run the show have lowered Parliament’s credibility. Dissent is important in a parliamentary democracy, but it should not take the shape of disruption. A special session to pass key Bills will be a step in the right direction.
