This refers to the statement by Mr Asaduddin Owaisi that every child is born a Muslim. Ordinarily, one would have ignored the ridiculous and senseless remark of Mr Owaisi with the contempt it deserves, more so if he had been an illiterate and small-town leader. But Mr Owaisi leads the Hyderabad-based All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and is a Member of Parliament, with British education. Clearly, his Islamic bigotry has blinded him to the fact that his faith is the youngest among all major religions, having been founded in early seventh century. Thus, how can Islam be “the real home of all religions” that are older than Islam, including its own Semitic cousins like Judaism and ChristianityIJ Hinduism is, of course, more ancient.
Therefore, even in a democracy, how can Mr Owaisi promote a perverse, bizarre and false belief system which virtually claims Islam as the mother of all faithsIJ Of course, Mr Owaisi has been trying to explain away his comment, but the damage has been done.
