Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Our VIP illegal squatters” (May 19). It is a pity that in a city where thousands sleep on pavements, bureaucrats and politicians have made it a matter of privilege and right to continue occupying bungalows long after retirement. It is not that they do not own a house; in fact, many of them have several properties. But living in lutyens’s Delhi, with security and attendant privileges, has its own charm for these freebooters. It was with the blessings of the establishment bosses that this corrupt, abominable and disgraceful practice was permitted.
