Optimism rules

Sir — This refers to the article, “Of achche din and the not so achche log” (July 2) by Rajesh Singh. The Narendra Modi Government has taken the bold step to hike railway fares, but then it is too early to judge  the Prime Minister. Keeping inflation in check, reviving the economy and bringing growth and development cannot be done overnight, more so after the years of poor governance. But the Prime Minister has a strong mandate to back his bold steps.

The only problem is that given the kind of hope he has generated, people are expecting the moon from Mr Modi. The Congress and other opposition parties must introspect on what they did to the country, before pointing fingers at Mr Modi.
