This refers to the editorial, “Beyond demonetisation” (November 17). All eyes are on the Winter Session of Parliament. No doubt, the Modi Government’s demonetisation drive will hog the limelight in both Houses. And why notIJ People have a right to know, through the MPs, on the pros and cons of the Government's giant step to curb black money.
On the other hand, citizens are looking at their representatives with genuine hope that the latter would come true to their expectations, and compel the Government to quickly redress their woes. Constructive and planned debates are what people are desiring from parliamentarians. However, this should not be the only subject for discussion.
Though one does not expect the Opposition to embrace the Government with open arms, by the same token, one does not want the opposition parties to be up in arms on trivial issues that are not in the interest of the nation.
