Sir — The victory of the mahagathbandhan, the grand alliance stitched together by Mr Nitish Kumar and lalu Prasad, in Bihar, is a victory of the forces representing corruption, communalism and opportunism.
It reminds one of the alliance of the five Deccan Sultanates —Bidar, Berar, Golconda, Bijapur and Ahmadnagar — that finished the Vijayanagar Empire. But after their victory in the Battle of Talikota in 1565, the Sultanates were back to fighting one another and their alliance quickly came apart. The same will happen to the mahagathbandhan, except that it may not be able to wipe out the BJP from Bihar.
