One dubious deal after another, PM still mum

This refers to the editorial, “Jet-Etihad deal stinks” (November 8). In 2004, the BJP-led NDA might have been wrong to claim that India was ‘shining', but after nine years of UPA rule headed by Mr Manmohan Singh, the country is stinking.

It is shocking that from the 2G Spectrum scam to the Jet-Etihad deal now, while the Prime Minister's Office has raised pertinent points, the messy deals were ultimately cleared by the Prime Minister. The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation had finalised the controversial privatisation of Mumbai and Delhi airports and ordered many Dreamliner aircraft from Boeing. Now, with Mr Ajit Singh at the helm, the Jet-Etihad deal was pushed against severe criticism.

With huge accumulated losses and prospects of losing even the existing business, Air India cannot survive if the present state of affairs continues. One wonders why the Prime Minister has allowed his Minister to plot the demise of Air India. Who benefits from the racketIJ
