Sir — The acquittal of Ms J Jayalalithaa ought not to surprise anyone. Her case is very ‘dramatic’, for it was all in the figures! An arithmetic error has called into question the percentage of disproportionate assets cited by the High Court judge for acquitting Ms Jayalalithaa. Tamil Nadu Opposition leaders are picking holes in the numbers. They contend that the ill-gotten wealth works out to a staggering 76.75 per cent. Ten per cent of illegally acquired wealth is permissible, but a bribe of Rs10 is not!
