Nourishing leadership

This refers to the report, “21st century is India’s century: Modi” (September 29). Prime Minister  Narendra Modi’s second visit to the US, and his first to the world’s technological capital, Silicon Valley,  has been a roaring success. Mr Modi’s intent, seriousness of purpose and straight talk seems to have charmed the global leaders, which includes technological and social media giants like Google, Microsoft, Apple and Facebook.

leaders all across the world have come to recognise the Indian Prime Minister as a tech-savvy head of state. In the past, inspite of India’s vast potential for development, the country suffered due to poor leadership that failed to keep up with the changing times.

That Google has promised free WiFi in 500 important Indian railway stations by the end of 2016, and Microsoft has assured broadband connection to Indian villages, speaks volumes about Mr Modi’s ability to strike a chord with intellectual giants.

More importantly, what Mr Modi’s visit to the US has done is that it has given new hope, and made young Indians confident about the Indian leadership. Mr Modi’s innovative take on brain-drain, and his angry stance on the United Nation’s soft-pedaling on terrorism, have also hit the nail firmly on the head.
