Sir — This refers to the editorial, “It’s a tickling health bomb” (September 12). You have rightly suggested that the Government must declare cancer a ‘notified disease’.
This deadly malady, detected mostly at a terminal stage, not only cripples the victims physically, mentally and financially, but also leaves them in persistent fear of death or recurrence.
Also, the poor suffer more because often they are unable to pay for the costly treatment. The Government must step up its efforts for control and treatment of the disease and also ensure that the cost of medicines/treatment is made affordable.
