Sir — This refers to the article, “The road ahead for Sidhu and the BJP” (July 21) by Amitabh Shukla. Politicians leaving one party to join another has become a routine affair and, therefore, Navjot Singh Sidhu’s exit from the BJP is not surprising.
However, what is shocking is the way he betrayed not only his political ‘guru’ Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely but also Prime Minister Narendra Modi. If he was so disenchanted with the BJP, he should have left the party when he was given a Rajya Sabha nomination three months back.
I agree with the views of the author that the grass may look green to Sidhu, but he will have to face a bigger challenge if he joins the Aam Aadmi Party. As for the BJP, Sidhu’s exit may prove to be a blessing in disguise for the party in Punjab.
