Sir — This refers to the editorial, “The height of absurdity” (July 4).
While one agrees that the questions asked in this year’s National Eligibility Test flout the gender equality norms, the assertion that female teachers make better primary school teachers is not too far from reality. We can visit any Government school in Delhi and see for ourselves what is happening. Most often than not, male teachers are not to be found in classes, courses are not getting completed, and students are encouraged to take private tuitions from them after school hours. On the other hand, most female teachers genuinely strive to teach their students. Most of us would agree from our experiences that female teachers are more sincere and do care genuinely about the students.
