This refers to the news report, “Digvijay takes dig at judiciary, ruffles feathers” (May 14). Irrepressible Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, not known to be circumspect with his words, has taken affront to the Supreme Court calling the Central Bureau of Investigation a “caged parrot”.
He has accused the apex court of ‘belittling institutions'. It is the Congress which has belittled the institutions most and with impunity in recent times. Mr Singh and other Congress leaders have rallied against the Comptroller and Auditor-General, castigating it for the indicting reports on the 2G Spectrum scam, coal block allotment and, appointment of a tainted bureaucrat as Chief Vigilance Commissioner.
It is common knowledge that the CBI investigations in cases involving top leaders of political parties are manipulated by the Government to rescue the supporters and harass the opponents. Amendments made by the Union law Minister, Government officials and the Attorney General in the CBI's coal scam report amply proves that the CBI is required to parrot what the Government tutors.
