Sir — Our men in uniform, unmindful of the risk to their own lives, have most commendably accomplished the herculean task of rescuing thousands of people stranded at various places rendered unaccessible due to the floods in Uttarakhand.
It is only our defence personnel who come to the help of the people in times of disasters, given that state agencies are mostly ill-prepared to tackle the situation.
While rescue work continues, leaders of political parties will be well-advised to desist from exploiting the tragedy for political one-upmanship. Please don’t add to the problem and hamper relief and rescue efforts with your meaningless presence.
