Sir — This refers to the article, “Pink Revolution is not required” (March 22) by Anuradha Dutt Policy-makers, unmindful of the ancient traditions, are supporting the Pink Revolution. By subsidising the export of beef they are misusing the money of the taxpayers and also playing with the religious sentiments of the people. This subsidy should be banned as soon as possible.
Numerous abattoirs are run illegally and under unhygienic conditions, and this is having an insalubrious effect on the health of the people and the environment. True, there is big demand for beef and other meats in the world but we must not ignore the path of religion for the sake of commerce.
