No meeting

Sir — This refers to the report, “To appease Church, ally in Kerala, Congress lobbies with Centre” (March 7) by VR Jayaraj. It says that, “Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien on Thursday met several Central Ministers and officials to influence them for getting the draft notification issued at the earliest”. The Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha did not meet any Union Minister or official. This reference is incorrect.

It has also been mentioned in the report that the Deputy Chairman held discussions with Union Minister for Environment and Forests Veerappa Moily, which is not true. He neither met with nor spoke to Mr Moily or any officials of the Environment and Forests Ministry.
