Sir — This refers to the news report, “NIS boots Ram out, goes soft on Vijender” (March 11). It is distressing for hundreds of boxing and wrestling fans across the country that the two sports have been facing one blow after another. If the deletion of wrestling from the 2020 Olympics list was not enough, here comes the news of involvement of some of our boxers in dubious activities.
The boxer’s excuse that he along with Olympian Vijender Singh took the drug mistaking it for a food supplement is laughable. The law will take its own course in this recent case, but such illegal activities by our national heroes will surely bring international disrepute to us.
