Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Getting a lokpal in place” (April 29). It portends well that the Supreme Court has handed out a ruling vis-à-vis the much-needed appointment of a lokpal even without the leader of Opposition (loP) as this will help the Centre select an eminent jurist as lokpal, through the selection committee. This will also silence the clamour of gripes from some quarters for the same.
Now, it is incumbent upon the ruling Government to rise to the occasion and act upon the apex court’s advice without delay. It has to show that it means business to enhance transparency and fix accountability, both in public and Government sectors as all this includes their scheme of things in order to keeping their public image intact.
