New governance

Sir — They came, they saw but flattered to deceive. With reams of paper being spent on eulogising the Aam Aadmi Party, and glorifying its feats as a celebrated chapter in Indian political history, we now hear that anarchy has set in on the streets of the country’s capital, with leaders basking in the fame of a new order where total chaos and lawlessness substitutes for governance.

What is more interesting is that with the Gandhi caps turning into a new symbol of protest, ‘populist anarchy’ as a new phrase has found its genesis in the intriguing ways of the common man’s political dispensation. Harping on the same tune as did Mr Arvind Kejriwal, that the Constitution of the country does not prevent him as a Chief Minister to sit on protest for the rights of the people, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy brought the anti-Telangana protest on the streets of Delhi. His dharna at Jantar Mantar against the Centre’s move on the bifurcation of the State may for all purposes turn out to be the harbinger of a new form of protest by those heading a State Government, against the machinations of the Centre.
