This Sunday witnessed the ‘Hunkaar Rally' of the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Patna, Bihar. With the rally, the party's long wait to bring Mr Modi to Bihar came to an end; the party couldn't do so earlier due to opposition from its then partner, the JD(U).
Although a couple of low-intensity blasts rocked the venue and elsewhere in the city, it could not prevent Mr Modi and his party leaders from holding the event. In his speech, the BJP leader attacked the Congress and its vice-president, and the State Government led by Mr Nitish Kumar. He also referred to the need for Hindus and Muslims to unite against poverty.
Major issues like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and corruption are affecting countrymen, regardless of their religious beliefs and castes. If the BJP and the Congress are really concerned about these issues, they must discuss the matter and possible solutions, instead of playing caste and religious cards.
