Nehru-Gandhi charm seems to be waning

This refers to the article, “People's choice, not a dynasty's nominee” (March 31) by Balbir Punj. People from all walks of life are embracing the Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. It is a testimony to the fact that Mr Modi has acquired a larger than life image. If the BJP-led NDA comes to power, which it should, then all credit should go to this charismatic leader from Gujarat.

The last 10 years of the Congress-led UPA rule under the prime ministership of Mr Manmohan Singh has destroyed the faith of the people in the Government and they are desperately looking for strong leadership. I agree with Mr Punj's view that the Congress can be wiped out of the political map of the country in this election. It will be proof that the era of dynasty politics is over, and the Nehru-Gandhi family cannot fool the people any more. It is time for change as we all deserve a better and transparent governance.
